If any of you want to see me make a total ass of myself, I will be on a "Fantasy Writers Panel" on Sunday, all the way to hell and gone off in Portland, Maine.

Dramatis personae:  Kristen Britain, Karen Jordon Allen, Noreen Doyle, James Hetley
Moderator:  Gibran Graham (Borders Books)
Date/time:  2:30 - 3:45 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2007
Maine College of Art, Room 207
522 Congress St., Portland, Maine

As I have never tried to be a Public Author Person before, and have never met several of the people with whom I will be paneling, this has the potential to be really grim.  Or amusing, depending on whether you are in the audience or on the panel...

I recommend a panama hat, seersucker suit, bow tie, and spats. That'll make an impression!

Lacking all of the above, maybe I'll just show up in jeans and a Dickies work shirt. What you see is what you get.

You'll be mobbed by adoring fangirls.

I wouldn't know what to do with them.

More likely outcome would be no volunteers to play the part of an audience. This is in the afternoon of the last day of the festival, when most folks will have said "Fuck this, I'm going to the beach."

These two want to be read to and picked up and played with.

Not a Public Author Person, eh? And what were we, -- two summers ago, I might add -- chopped liver???

Mythical.

More seriously, that occasion, stressful as it was (and you know damn well), involved much greater control, a filtered audience, and a modicum of decorum dictated by your students' need to pass the course. I doubt that a class at Dal counts as "public" for the purpose of this discussion.

I have plans to be there, my man. :D So there will at least be an audience of 1.

You vindictive or something? That's a hell of a long drive just to watch somebody you barely know make a fool of himself...

Or did the bike break?

*g* I'm supporting the arts!

And Portland's not all that far.

Of course, I will be making a day of it. Couple places I've been wanting to pop in on.
