On painting bridges

I have heard that the crews painting the Golden Gate Bridge work from one end to the other, and when finished, start over again at the beginning. This is the way of houses, as well. I am now scraping paint in preparation for coating the front porch deck with pigment. This forces me to notice the cracking, peeling paint on the rails and posts and spindles. Paint I just applied two years ago.
Meanwhile, I am finally removing the over-paint and drips from the sunporch windows, last year's painting job.
Anybody want a circa 1850 house? Cheap? The ghosts are well-mannered and discreet...
