Minor glitch at the Pigeon Loft, discussed this morning (it even made the paper) -- roof leaks that closed the first floor restaurant down for a few days. You'll remember that rain of last week? Flood watches and warnings? We got about 2.5 inches of rain here, on top of snow. Contractor is now re-roofing the project.

Some former owner had put standing-seam metal roofing on a low slope roof. When ice blocked drainage, the water backed up over the top of the seams, and found a drain thereby. Hence new rubber roofing.

General rule of thumb -- don't use standing-seam roofing on any roof slope too shallow to shed snow. It's a good material, if applied properly.

Same is true of much of life.
