That wee bit of publishing news
Mar. 7th, 2007 11:20 amI mentioned the existence of real, honest, good news on the publishing front a little while back. Minor, but still good. The Nice Agent Lady sent along a sub-rights offer for another French edition of SUMMER COUNTRY, mass-market paperback this time, and says the deal is firm enough to see the light of day.
Not a big whoop, but MONEY FOR THE AUTHOR! none the less. Money I don't even have to work for. And I'd figured that the French edition had sunk without a trace, whereas this implies that they sold at least a couple of copies.
May this be a trend...

Date: 2007-03-07 09:16 pm (UTC)I am assuming (and we all know the derivation of _that_ word...) they will use the same translation as the trade paperback edition, already in print. While I do not read French, Wife and Wife's Sister waded through that one, dictionaries in hands, and said they (two translators, don't ask me why) did a decent job, even with the idioms and profanity.
