It's Baaaack
Mar. 6th, 2007 09:28 amSubzero air temperatures and high wind. Official windchill rating ohmigod.
Thus are we reminded that we live in Maine. Supposed to be milder tomorrow, then back into the deep freeze on Thursday. Weekend may approach normalcy, however that may be defined.
Still learning my way around the iMac, poking at things and saying "What does this red button do?"
Boom.
Don't know why I have to have Word already open before I can click on a manuscript file and open it. Something to do with tossing the MSOffice demo into the trash? The installation process for OfficeMac _told_ me to do that, but now I get an error message if I just click on a file...
Have not yet tried to do any real work on this thing.
And the DSL modem has made it as far as Massachusetts, according to the UPS tracker site.

When I tossed that MSOffice "test drive", I should have used an uninstaller -- so I pulled that out of the trash can, ran it, deleting _both_ the test drive and Office itself, and then reinstalled office. And _then_, clicking on the files told the machine I wanted to open those files with Pages, for which there is also a teaser installation.
But I used your suggestion, told the system to always open such files with Word, and we now can click on files to open the program.
And now I'm figuring out how to make text bigger (gee, "Make Text Bigger" in "View", who'd a thought it) and other wonders of modern science.
