Need fresh snow. The stuff out there is too icy for comfortable skiing -- or even safe skiing in some cases.

Had a group of goldfinches wander by and gobble seeds yesterday, first sighting in a month or so. Having a resident sharp-shinned hawk has really cut down on our birdseed bill this winter.

In addition to the contemplated iMac purchase (maybe next week), we are looking at moving forward into the Century of the Fruitbat by getting DSL in place of dialup. Considering the various providers, comparing apples and oranges and artichokes there, as well. If Elder Son wants to offer advice, it would be welcome -- he'll be conscripted into setting up the system anyway, so he might as well help choose it...

DSL is wonderful. (Streaming video! Internet radio! Software updates that don't take a year and a day to finish downloading!) We got it as soon as it became available in Colebrook, after years of limping along on dial-up. Indeed, for about the first six years we lived here, we were making do with long-distance dial-up, which as you can guess sucked with a mighty suckitude.
