Okay, the Sunni and Shia have such a cozy, loving relationship in Baghdad, it seems a shame to add a large chunk of Kurdish military to the household. I mean, both of the current sides in the catfight are going to _so_ welcome another occupying power.
And that's how the Arabs and the Persians are going to see Kurdish forces. Both of them regard Kurds as semi-simian. That means the Kurds have no incentive to act nice. They have good reason to not love either side.
