Ash trees continue to amuse. Some are bare, some defy the season and remain green. I have no idea how much of this difference is genetic and how much environmental.

Sadly we are losing our ash trees in the UK. There's a disease that's killing them known as ash dieback. It's sad to see gaps in forests where they've been felled.

We are fighting a losing battle against the emerald ash borer, an invasive insect (Asian) whose larvae girdle the trees, killing them.
