Wife expressed a longing for a touch of good, old-fashioned Dust Bowl drought this morning.

And on the truth-in-advertising front, I would appreciate it if the news-critters would remember that two of the senators they are counting in the "Democrat" majority column are actually independents...

If those senators were truly "independant" then who gets control of the committees would be up in the air. It's not. Democrats will be the committee chairs and a Democrat will be the Senate Majority Leader.

Even with the recent history between Lieberman and the Democratic Party...

Remember what happened when Jeffords (spelling? previous Vermont guy) dropped his "Republican" label?

"Lieberman said Wednesday that he is “definitely going to organize with the Senate Democratic caucus.”

Otherwise he would lose his senority (aka power) in the senate. And I believe Sanders will caucus with the Dems as well.

I think recent friction adds to an already-unstable situation.

But then, it takes 60 votes to get much of anything done in the senate.

What recent friction?

Amendment to my last comment

Has there been more friction with Lieberman *since* the election?

And my earlier comments refer to the count and not about whether it is possible to getting anything done. Committee chairs will go the the Democrats. Full stop. I'm not implying anything else.

No on the _recent_ (post-election) friction. But losing the Democratic primary, then running as an independent against the Democratic nominee and _with_ open Republican support and a designated sacrificial Republican in the general election...

One Senate vote and the Evil Overlord Cheney as tiebreaker.

The rain finally stopped in Maryland. Today's a lovely sunny day. So there's hope for you Jim. (It also warmed up a lot!)

And one of them doesn't even qualify as an independent. I have plenty of Jewish friends here in Dallas who use the word "Lieberman" as their equivalent to "Uncle Tom"...especially when "Vichy" is just a little too cruel.
