Don't care what the calendar says. The furnace went on, the trees are turning, and the sky holds that peculiar depth of blue that comes with dry Canadian air. And the buzzing things are coating the aster flowers, adding hazard to simple chores like mowing the lawn or hanging out the laundry.

Time to pull the air conditioner out of the window and close up the attic vents.

I turned my furnace on this weekend, too.

Then I turned it off and went downstairs and replaced the filter.

Amazing how dusty the first heat of fall can smell when you forget to do that. (-:

The trees aren't yet showing any real signs of changing, but dawn is coming later and later; this week is the first when I've had to turn the lights on to get ready for work in the morning. And the nights are wonderfully cool-to-chilly.

I love autumn best of all the seasons. My favorite seasonal calendar tells me it arrives tomorrow at 16:30 GMT ...
