When autumn leaves start to fall

Our maple still shows about half green, half yellow/red/brown, but leaves drift down from each passing ripple of breeze. Some of the ash and red maple trees are totally bare already, while the brain-dead European maples haven't even started to turn. No way we're gonna get those brilliant masses of scarlet or gold you see on New England calendar photos.
Wife and I may make a trip out to the bog boardwalk this afternoon, stroll around and stare at things. Temperature more suited to walks than bicycle rides -- mid 50s F for projected highs. The goldfinches have turned into drabfinches for the winter already.
Trying to figure out what happens next on POWERS. Old Guy is griping to me about kids just out of diapers sitting at computers, while he still remembers how to trim a goose-quill and make oak-gall ink...
