That's the problem with No Mow May. It segues into Not Yet June and Too Thick For A Push Mower July, Ah Forget It August and Maybe Next Year September. Then you find out that bees don't even touch dandelions. Try planting an apple orchard instead.
I didn't see any bee activity until the lilac and the apple tree blooms. My insect count was better when my field of daisies bloomed in late June. The insecticides spread each year on soybean field across the street doesn't help.
