Little fuzzy caterpillars have begun their annual pilgrimage. Some make it across the road. Some don't. And a lot of them look small. Don't know what that means for winter survival.

Other roadkill seen, a probable raccoon spread far and wide on an uphill, brownish bird across the road in the bog, could be an immature gull, grouse, or raptor at that distance, and a couple of squirrels.

No geese, ducks, or herons at the cemetery pond.

Flowers limited to asters and a few defiant chicory. Milkweed pods splitting open.

Got out on the bike, did not die. Season winds down.
