It was in the fifties here (Boston area) in the dark morning hours. If only it would stay in the fifties all day. I'm not ready for the thirties yet, but give me a nice long fall of chilly nights and cool days. As the light wanes and the temperature drops, I want to write again -- leaving behind the summer where words were not to be written, but merely shouted before diving into the waves.
I think Autumn is the best season in New England -- comfortable weather, no bugs, beautiful fall color. Just enough nip to the mornings to wake me up and get the juices flowing.
The swamp maples are turning red, and some of the upland trees are starting to show a bit of change. Peak leaf-peeper season won't come for maybe a month, plus/minus depending on which species you really pine for.
