Well, not totally roadkill-free. Saw a squashed bullfrog and a dead flycatcher-type bird. And I guess the Red Sox qualify as roadkill about now, an important casualty for some folks in this area where we have to import our sports heroes from two states over.
Got out for the bike ride this morning, temperatures around 70 F and blue sky, a bit more wind than necessary. No, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind's blowing. Just ask a bicyclist. That heron was back at the cemetery pond, hanging his wings out to dry like a cormorant when I headed out and terrorizing frogs along the marshy edge when I came by on the way back. And the swamp maples have mostly turned red out in the bog. Autumn has started.
Parental twitch at the news of a plane crash in Russia (Ukraine, actually) and forceful reminder to self that Younger Son won't be flying again until Friday. You folks without children get to miss all these finer moments.
