Under surveillance

Local police have been watching our 4-way stop this morning, nabbing a continuing series of vehicles from a spot opposite our driveway on the side street. It's a "target-rich environment" as people blow through that intersection on a regular basis. I probably ought to take coffee out to the officer.

Our quiet side-street is one block away from the on-ramp to I-280 southbound. This means that people routinely turn onto it at the end of our block and tear down our quiet street at speeds well above the listed 25 mph (only to meet hell's intersection at the bottom of the hill, because everyone is turning on to the freeway, not just them). When I had a dog and kids in residence this frequently made me want to run outside brandishing a baseball bat a la Garp.
