Somebody stole our river

We live about a quarter mile from a tidal river -- across State Street and down into the valley. Well, when I went for my morning walk to get the newspaper, the river wasn't there. Just this nice neat bank of fog tracing the water. Sun just rising above, turned the vapor into an impromptu light show glowing from white to yellow to deep gray shadow. Trees poking green through the top, here and there.

And a bald eagle crusing downstream over it all. Probably wondering where his breakfast was hiding, down in all that murk.
