Temperatures are supposed to exceed 90 F today, with dew-points in the 70s. This is excessive for Maine. I expect to subside into a vegetative state -- we'll see if it is persistent or not. The weather folks talk about thunderstorms this evening and cooler tomorrow.

We have one window-mounted AC unit for a 10 room house.

You have nothing but my sympathies: having survived Oregon in the summer, and having lived in New England during the heat wave of 1977, I'm the last person who's going to give you any grief. Let's just hope that this heat wave is short: our heat wave in Dallas will probably last until the beginning of October.

The noontime Boston readings were 95F/35C air temperature and 73F/23C dew point, which is all too reminiscent of conditions in the steam plant during a loss of air conditioning drill. Except, of course, that we didn't have the sunlight beating down upon us at the same time.
