Sunday roadkill report

Body count: raccoon, couple of porcupines, crow or raven (dismembered to the point of black feathers and broken bones, couldn't key out to species.) Also one bike tire inner-tube.
The highway PTBs are rebuilding a bridge upriver, which features in three of my standard weekend rides. The temporary bridge consists of precast concrete plank in poor condition, with gaps. After I got across the damned thing, I became increasingly conscious of a thumpthumpthump in my rear wheel. Flat tire. Classic "snakebite" puncture, two holes, one on each side of the tube, where it got pinched by impact with a "road hazard." I carry a couple of spare tubes and a pump, so I found a shady spot to lean my bike, pulled the rear wheel, and proceeded to change the tube.
Nice day otherwise, temperature in the 60s F when I headed out, 70s when I got back, although I could have appreciated less wind. You just can't satisfy some people. Goldenrod, various types of clover, Queen Anne's lace, cornflower, and the everlastingly-to-be-damned purple loose-strife blooming.
I wish they'd get that bridge finished.
