A great number of people get ticked off if they see their taxes benefiting anyone else. It's part of being the center of the universe.

I can't spare the energy to be that cranky about that. Better that I focus on getting taxes spent on things I need. Like a fully functional health care system or a public broadcaster that does good work. Public transit and space exploration are good, too.
