One probable muskrat, upriver near the horse-farm. I say "probable" because the remains had suffered indignity and post-death trauma to the point where form had no relation to function, and I didn't see that distinctive tail. But the fur color and the splot size looked like muskrat.

The fog cleared off and the sun came out and rejoicing was heard throughout the land. Fair amount of water out there in the creeks and streams, almost up to spring run-off levels, and the bog is again encroaching on the road. But blue flag irises bloom in the wet areas and robins sing from every tree, serving as West Nile virus vectors throughout the land. And multiple bicyclists and joggers were out carping that diem.

Forecast is for rain to return tomorrow, lingering on through Saturday. Bleah.
