Parks and Recreation shredding the dandelions in our vista. Wonder how many bumblebees get caught up in the slaughter.

None. They should all be busy as bees in the lilacs. I hear the dandelions are lousy bee food.

Bees pay a lot of attention to the dandelions in our yard. They preferred our azaleas, while available. But those have dropped blossoms now.

I couldn't find any in my dandelions, nor could I find any in my apple tree, but today again I had at least three honey bees in my big lilac and as many bumblebees a few days earlier. There was a dissenting voice on the CBC one morning, in regards to the benefit of dandelions to native bees during no-mow May, especially when the maple trees are in bloom.
