(No, not talking about writing, or bicycling, or Jack Daniels, or any of the other vices I should give up...)

We have our annual woodchuck. Should I trap it (Havahart box trap, humane etc., to be released at the nature center) or should we let it take up residence under the rear of the house? It's cute, it eats dandelions, it's a rodent...

And we don't garden anymore. If it was aimed at our Lincoln peas and broccoli, there would be murder done.

Wait for fall, the stew might be rather greasy. I assume you have seen the extreme difference between a fall woodchuck and the spring version.

Even in fall, when they are greasy, they are _right_ tough if you should choose to roast them.

At least down here below the Mason-Dixon line.

[livejournal.com profile] jonsinger and I spot them along roadsides (alive, if we're lucky) and cheer. But then we've no garden to defend.

This year hasn't been good for sightings, alas.
