One dead pigeon. Normally, I wouldn't count a pigeon. But nothing else volunteered.
Temperature around 50 F and very little wind, so I got that bike ride in. The weather folks are threatening us with rain tomorrow, mixing with or turning to snow overnight, and questionable weather for the rest of the week. Ride now or forever hold your peace. Whatever.
Speaking of pigeons, Fat Wizard doesn't like 'em. Feathered rats, they crap on everything and coo and peck and bobble outside his office window when he's trying to think (or catch a nap.) So he fed one to the red-tailed hawk this morning, a little bribe.

Date: 2006-04-03 12:28 pm (UTC)We started out at 11:45 and went up through neighborhoods called The Woodlands, Sleepy Hollow, and Knollwood. The weather was perfect, 80 degrees, not humid enough to cause a sweat. Still a lot of leaves falling from the trees and still a huge amount of Oak seed casings all over everything. My Oaks have all finally stopped hemorrhaging leaves and it looks like the rest are slowing down and getting to the business of summer. Bouganvillea is blooming EVERYWHERE, all sorts of colors, but the fuschia is the most popular. Vines of Jasmine are starting to bloom under the magnolias, but not enough to really be noticable. We crossed a major intersection and biked around the neighborhoods around the gold course. Some good hills over there. I stopped at the bottom of one and watched for traffic and let The Child go back up and fly down without stopping. We stopped and rested briefly in the shade of a loquat tree. Ate a few loquats and planned our next direction. Found a golf ball along the street. Asked some golfers if it was theirs. They said no. Said to wait 2 minutes and if it's still there, then take it. The Child now has a golf ball. Used to belong to Bob. Poor Bob sucks hard at golf. Maybe it was his first day? Maybe he had a heart attack as he hit it and that's why it flew that badly off course. R.I.P., Bob.
Came back home via the busy road's sidewalk and stopped at Taco Bell for lunch. Ceasar Salad Burrito. I had a lemon Propel water with me. The Child had a kid's meal that he couldn't finish. No matter. I had my basket with me. After that, we stopped at the Korean fruit market and got a box of strawberries. Nifty, can eat strawberries all the way home! Florida berries are tasteless but occasionally one tastes like a proper strawberry. That little poor-soil hybrid still retains a vague memory of what it once was. To get out of the shopping strip and across the street we pretended we were cars and pedalled furiously with the rest of the cars when the light turned green. The Child couldn't get enough of that and talked about being a car all the way home.
