Question for Michiganders (or Michigeese....)

Why is the "C" concourse at Detroit Metro airport such an abomination under the sun?

No toilets in the gate area, no seating in the gate area, a narrow corridor with two moving sidewalks down the center that make it even narrower -- maybe eight or ten feet of corridor to each side in which regional jet passengers (seventy, eighty, whatever per plane) line up and wait for a plane?

Do we blame incompetent architects, or is this an artifact of politics?

Airports suck.

The Northwest Terminal aka McNamara? Or the Smith or Davey terminal?

Don't know it by name, but the "C" concourse was Northwest, for the smaller regional jets and turboprops. "B" concourse was the one with the real Northwest planes, 747s and such. We viewed it from afar.

That's Mcnamara....concourse C is basically Outer Mongolia. Brand new terminal too....believe it or not it actually is *better * than the old Davey terminal...that one was really awful.

You can inform the Michigan and Detroit Chambers of Commerce that Mr. McNamara's hellhole is going to play a role in some future novel. As a villain.

Oh, I hear you loud and clear, Jim, and were my hands in better shape I'd tell my own horror story of that bloody terminal from a couple years ago when my beloved and I went to Nashville for the Annexe.

I will *never* fly through that airport again if I have any choice whatsoever in the matter.
