Post-eclipse morning

Air temperature 21 F, wind near calm, clear sky. Trash out. Did not need to shovel a path to the roadside to accomplish this mighty feat of arms. Still unimpressed by the human race.

Will o' the wisp

Opened my bedroom shade into darkness, as is often the case, and spent some time trying to figure out a light wandering around in the park. Finally deduced a dog with an LED collar, sniffing and darting around with a shadowy human proceeding along the sidewalk.

Signs and portents, N+1

We have seen a turkey vulture soaring, a redwing blackbird, and those overwinter geese. One chipmunk seen on Elder Son's walks. Pussy-willows fuzzing out, snowdrops, and the earliest of the crocus lawns. Our day-lilies are starting to poke up green noses.
