Tuesday no-goose report
Oct. 22nd, 2024 03:31 pmGeese not seen at the cemetery pond, either on my outward ride or on return. Haven't heard them overhead, aimed south, so I suspect they were just foraging elsewhere.
Small gray mammal dead on the road, quick glance suggested either shrew or mole. I'm inclined to say mole, because dark gray and velvety look.
Even most of the asters gone on this route, but did see one clump of Queen Anne's lace still blooming. Tamaracks starting to drop needles out in the bog, milkweed pods exploding and spreading fluff.
Got out on the bike, upriver route, temperature in the 60s F. Did not die.
