Air temperature 42 F, wind southeast 9 mph gusting to 17, cloudy. Flood warning remains. Still have power, still have internet courtesy of new fiber-optic installation. Cable still down. I presume the brigade of bucket trucks is now working their way down the priorities.

Somewhere in excess of 400,000 customers are without power in Maine this morning. What that translates to, in terms of people, is imponderable as it includes commercial customers.

Just did my usual walk route and noted a lot of trees broken off or uprooted, major limbs or tops down, etc. Shingles strewn, including about a "square" missing from the rear peak of our old house. Not our problem. Did *not* see any utility trucks about, which I take to mean they are still working on major stuff that will restore large chunks. And we still do not have cable.

(a square is an amount of shingles to cover 10'x10' of roof)

Lights on our side street and a sector across the park. Our uphill neighbor may not be home -- offered her our generator but she said she was planning on a motel room. Lots of posts of Power to the People! on the neighborhood group.
