Narrowing vision

Air temperature 16 F, wind northwest about 8 mph, clear sky. Trash out, crowning event of the week offset due to the holiday. Merrily we plod along.

Forest giant felled

That maple across the park has vanished, leaving a small patch of stump-grinding residue. It was about 3' through at the butt. Well into the point of heart-rot danger for maples. Could have taken a chunk out of either of two houses, depending on wind direction . . .
