'Tis the last ride of summer?
Oct. 28th, 2023 12:53 pmMany trees bare, including the red maples in the bog and some of the tamaracks. Aspens or poplars showering yellow leaves across the road. Milkweed pods split into fluff. A few asters on the route, looked like they had been mowed and then regrew defiance. Crown vetch still blooming.
One dead raccoon, looked like a yearling, about 4 miles into my ride. Going by the state of the fur, it had been there for a few days.
Goose flock in the grass near the cemetery pond, 30 +/- birds, with a couple of ducks and gulls mixed in. Not there on my way out.
Temperature got up into the 60s F, not a lot of wind, got out on the bike. Did not die. 75 F now. Weather supposed to nosedive into rain tomorrow, with hard freezes next week. 952 miles total for the year.
