Air temperature 33 F, wind near calm, scattered fog moving in here after I could see across the park earlier. Still forecast of temperatures up to 70 F later in the week, indigenous people's summer. Foraging morning.

Met a long-furred tortoise-shell in the driveway that used to be Stripe and Spot. Was willing to come out and sniff my knuckles and then accept a bit of scritching. I kept it short, first date and all, but I told her that she had a magnificent tail . . .
