Power remains on

Air temperature 57 F, wind south about 10 mph, cloudy with scattered fog. Morning news says we got about 3" of rain last night, some of which wended its way into our basement. I have encouraged that towards the floor drain. Maximum wind gusts about 40 mph. No damage. Storm headed up into Canada now.

Undocumented

We're getting migrants through the yard, stopping for a rest and snack before heading on south and west. Mostly "little brown birds" and "little gray birds" because staying elusive is a survival trait. Definite fall warblers, which can be cryptic even if you get a good view, and sparrows ditto. Anyway, we have seeds and bugs and shelter.

Raining again/still. The forecasts had given me a chance for a walk or even a bike ride this morning. Liars.

Autumn ritual

Rain stopped, I got myself downtown to the farmers' market and collected our required jug of cider. I used to have to drive out to the orchard for this, 30 miles . . . .
