Raking the dead leaves and stalks out of a couple of flower beds, gently, because the ferns and hostas are already poking up.

Friday wildlife report

Redwing blackbirds calling by a small pond and cattail patch at the state hospital grounds. Two geese by the cemetery pond both times I passed by. That number, they may have decided it looks like a nesting territory. Don't know what the grounds crew will say about that . . .

Skunk cabbage up at the bog, leaf buds swelling and starting to open, enough green grass that I was looking for woodchucks. No roadkill to report.

Got out on the bike, full upriver loop, did not die. Still using the mountain bike.
