Air temperature 10 F, wind north about 7 mph, clear sky with moon just past full. Foraging later. Maybe light snow tonight, just enough to grease the roads.

Ravaging the land

Saw a flock of robins during my walk yesterday, at least twenty. Canadian birds pillaging the winter fruit and berries. Border security lax.

Pileated woodpecker working that elm tree again today. Between it and the flock of hairy woodpeckers, whole sections of that tree have been stripped of bark. Must be some really tasty grubs . . .
