Air temperature 54 F, wind near calm, clear sky. Ground fog over the park burned off within an hour of sunrise. Autumnal feeling, a reminder that summer wanes.

The road to Hell is paved* with good intentions. Sometimes, people are doing what they think is best for society as a whole. It isn't always malice . . .

(*When we lived in southern Michigan long ago, parts of the road to Hell weren't paved at all.)

Sunday miscellaneous report

More asters, including added clumps of the small pale purples and a couple of the larger intense purple. Some milkweed pods starting to split but not fluffing out yet. Thistles *are* fluffing all over.

Roadkill limited to a couple of gray squirrels and a skunk, not particularly stinky but fresh.

Packed parking out at the base, C-17, KC-135, and at least 4 C-130s, with another possible C-130 beyond that C-17. Tail looked right, but that was about all I could see.

Rode downriver and then inland, stretching my mileage out. Getting hot by the time I got home. Did not die.
