Awaiting crisis

Air temperature 58 F, wind southwest about 5 mph, fair sky. City has scrawled "dig safe" graffiti for paving on a section of our street, beyond the intersection. We have alternate routes.

Backyard explosion

Day lilies seem to approve of our conditions. Major flowering on two clumps, with another yet to hit critical mass. We also inherited a number of hostas, which are showing color on their bud tips. Vining strawberries have set fruit, but a taste test on one full-red berry fell short -- sour and seedy, with almost no strawberry flavor. They mainly serve as a ground cover.
