Sunday floral/roadkill report
Jul. 11th, 2021 01:21 pmMullein spikes blooming, also both yellow and white water lilies. Lots of cornflower, thistles, day-lilies and birds-foot. Not a lot of purple loosestrife . . . yet.
Porcupine corpse gathering flies on the other side of the road, looked reasonably fresh. Not-roadkill, three mallard hens crossing the road in front of me. On foot. They did take off before I got too close.
Rode upriver to the next bridge and dam, taking a break at my eagle-overlook. Which did not provide eagles, but I did see a probable green heron flapping steadily toward the reservation island. Anyway, inland past those water lilies and back down to home. Did not die.
