Minor amusements

Every year, I am reminded that flowers that want to grow several feet tall, like the buttercups, cornflower, and asters, will adapt to mowing and blossom within a couple of inches of the ground. Make this a metaphor if you wish.

Unwelcome portent

Gypsy moth caterpillar tromping across the sidewalk on my morning route. I didn't squash it. Maybe should have, invasive alien pest . . .
