Gray day with showers forecast, air temperature 61 F, wind SE about 7 mph. Radar shows rain just nibbling at the Canadian border. Also, "decimated" -- that hurricane killed every tenth resident of the island?

Possible raptor update

Heard a strange bird call on my morning newspaper walk, sort of a raspy version of the merlin nest-call, and looked up to see four birds flying fast at treetop height -- pointy wings, straight tails, about crow-sized but bodies slimmer than a pigeon.
