Gray dampish morning

Air temperature 50 F, wind south about 10 mph, overcast with fog. Flood watch for most of the state, with rain forecast and melting snow. May get a break long enough for a bike ride. Or not.

Checking now and then

There's a white pine on my longer walk route with a fair-sized nest visible. Have seen either a Cooper's or sharp-shinned hawk flying to the tree, but the nest-call ki-ki-ki doesn't match either species in audio on the internet. Closer to the recordings for a merlin, which is unlikely.

Friday ice report

Ice out of the cemetery pond and off the river to above head-of-tide. Even vernal pools on my bike route open.

Road dried off, temperature got above 60 F, extended my ride distance again. About 10 miles, no roadkill.
