Patriotic Education can also be called indoctrination. Most cultures do it, just some are more subtle than others. For example, both the English and the French believe that they are the center of the universe, claims disputed by the United States and China.

Canadians learn very early that we are not to see ourselves as the centre of the universe. Our universe, or anyone else's. That's my experience.

That dates back to being taught that England* is the center of the universe.
