Fewer redpolls

Haven't seen the massive swarms in the last couple of days -- maximum count this morning of seven.  Stragglers, camp-followers?  Or advance scouts for a separate infestation?

Morning temperature about 20 F.  We're supposed to continue this freeze-thaw cycle for at least the rest of the week, good for maple sap season.

Okay, cancel that redpoll theory.  Just had 20-30 of the little red-capped pillagers.

Wife reports a chipmunk sighting out at the nature center.  There you are, folks, your basic harbinger in person!
