There's a killer on the road

Spotted a dead porcupine by the side of the trail at about the 3 mile/1 mile mark -- hard to miss, as bits and shreds scattered right across my path. The tracks had gotten messed up, but probable fisher attack -- they're the only predators that specialize in porcupine dinners.
I warned a skier going the other way, with unleashed golden retriever, of the attraction awaiting. Some dogs ain't got no sense . . .

Bouncy bouncy bouncy
Feb. 8th, 2009 01:24 pmWe appear to have reached 46 F before the temperature started into its dive. If true, this may be a record high for the date. Last month we registered 3 record lows, with an average temperature 7 degrees below normal. The fifth coldest January on record, according to the weather twit.
