Sunday roadkill report
Jul. 13th, 2008 12:45 pmCouple of porcupines in disarray, mummified muskrat, woodchucks, some flat garter snakes. Also, just after I boldly informed
prophet_marcus that we don't have 'possums this far north, I have a possible Pogo Possum cousin to report. Roadkill taxonomy gets complicated, but this corpse showed gray fur, was larger than a squirrel, and had the remains of a proper marsupial snout or something like. Wife says she can't think of anything else that fits the description, either. Global warming strikes again.
Also shows what happens to a lot of pioneers...
Windy today, as in sustained winds between 15 and 20 mph and gusts up near 40, so I wimped out on my planned route and settled for something shorter that started into the wind. That way I could sail home on the downwind leg if need be. Also, temperature 82 F with a dew point in the 60s, so that sweat wasn't going anywhere.
Sumac flower spikes turning red.
