Meanwhile, since the sovereign State of Maine, as represented by the armed minions of the State Fire Marshal, denies me my inalienable right to bombard the neighborhood with Loud and Dangerous Fireworks, we shall proceed to have a safe and sane Fourth of July.

Fireworks (the officially sanctioned and boring kind) just commenced.  You may guess, from my posting that fact in real time, that we aren't attending.  Can see the flashes from our own house, being about a mile from the launch pad.
