One half-grown woodchuck, belly up by the side of the road but no visible damage, one porcupine about a mile further, pretty well splattered.  Also an identifiable bullfrog and numerous frog-sized blood splots.  I was thinking, after the porcupine, that I haven't seen or smelled a roadkill skunk yet this year.  Wonder what happened to the population -- I'm pretty sure they haven't gotten any smarter.

Got out on the bike early, but not early enough to benefit from the overnight clouds.  Not much new in the way of wildflowers, but the rhododendrons and roses have exploded into bloom with this heat.  Lilacs, on the other hand, have finished their run.

Took it easy, respecting the heat and air quality, or lack of same.

Just walked over and voted in our so-called primary election.  No, it does not include presidential preference -- we did that by caucus, long ago.  And I can't decide between contenders for any of the local or state races, because I decline to belong to either of the sets of "mad dogs" covered by the party of the first part in my entry title...

I guess that makes me an Englishman.  Which probably offends the Irish genes a bit.

Anyway, we had a state bond issue and city school budget on which I registered opinions.

And a note to Elder Son:  they still have you on the voting roster.  You may want to change that fact prior to November.

Line of thunderstorms through this evening, temperature now 60 F.  We have turned off the air conditioner.
