Thursday not-roadkill report
Apr. 17th, 2008 12:52 pmNo confirmed roadkill on the bike route, although I cycled through a patch of feathers out in the bog that suggested the feral cleanup crew had removed a grouse.
Not-roadkill: Wood frogs heard! (Quackquackquack!)(Yes, they sound like ducks.) Muskrat spotted in the bog -- never would have seen him if he hadn't moved, a brown wet lump in a tangle of brown wet lumps. Mature bald eagle cruising up the interstate at about 50' altitude, close enough for me to spot the yellow beak. As Wife puts it, if you can see the yellow, you're too close...
And, as seasoned readers of these pages could deduce from the precision mileage statistics, I switched over to the road bike today, with its bike computer on the handlebars. Also, 60 F and sunny, I made the year's first outing in tee-shirt and bike shorts. We'll see if that results in sunburn.
Final pitiful remnants of snow departed our yard this morning.
