A certain part of me (the petty, vindictive part) says we shouldn't let Shrub leave office until he cleans up the mess he made.  Personally.  With a mop and shovel.  Sorta like a "community service" sentence of emptying garbage cans and running a pooper-scooper through the park...

Yeah, I know, if he stayed he'd only make things worse.  But whoever takes over, the poor schmuck is going to have a shitty job picking up the pieces and trying to fit them back into a working whole.  Foreign policy, military, economy, you name it.

Once upon a time, my parents bought the house in Georgia for $25,000.  I know this, because we came across the documents when we cleaned out after Mom died.  This price was from the mid 1950s.  The executor sold the place for $200,000, "as-is" with maybe 15-20 years of deferred maintenance.  We did not hold out for a better price.*

That is the same house, no additions and damn few system updates, performing the exact same function in the exact same neighborhood.  The 8x increase represents forty years of inflation, pure and simple.

If that sale price dropped 50% in the current market, it would still represent inflation.

*(And then we paid estate tax on the proceeds, but that's another rant...)

Kinda, sorta.

Apparently it has taken six or eight hours for the flakes to move from [personal profile] kinzel's place to ours...

Supposed to change to mix and then all rain, before reverting to type.  No more than a slushy mess, in total.
