Not terribly cold, but that wind has a bite to it.  Suited up in full winter armor for the newspaper walk.  We're on the edge today, with snow forecast to the east of us and sunshine to the west.  We get, supposedly, neither...

Saw a mockingbird prospecting for nibbles (peckles?) on the sidewalk next door.  This inspired me to toss out a couple of handfuls of sunflower seed on the snow crust, which will likely not benefit the mocker at all but may aid cardinals and such.

Meanwhile, a Fearsome Predator stalks the city streets.  Or the air over them, anyway...

Should help cut down on the "hazardous materials" problem in some of my downtown projects.  I will take issue with the article's statement that the peregrines are a recent addition to our airspace, though.  They've been around for years.

For some reason known but to God (or perhaps Mammon), the city has trucks and loaders at work removing snow from the second block of our street.  This would be one of the widest residential streets in the city, at least six lanes' worth*, while we and the other end languish with a bare two lanes -- with snowbanks and on-street parking, two cars can't pass at the same time...

*Originally laid out for either a tree-lawn down the center or for a streetcar turnout -- legends differ.
