(Brought to you by the fine folks at Village Subaru, pothole-season special on all-wheel-drive alignments this week only...)

Light snow, 30 F, expected to turn to sleet and then rain in the course of the morning.  We expect maybe an inch or two of slush, which may vanish later.  In other words, a damned nuisance, good for nowt but sliding vehicles into ditches.  Or each other.  Wife may request driver service to the nature center.

In other words, the Maine winter weather I profiled in SUMMER COUNTRY and WINTER OAK is a portrait from life.

(Driving while yakking.  Although the vision of a large herd of smelly, dusty Himalayan bovines blocking traffic has its attractions...)

Okay, I'm driving Wife to work this morning, through and over sleet -- otherwise known as little ice ball-bearings -- and we see the usual percentage (high) of drivers with cell phones bolted to their ears.  In conditions that made us happy to have AWD and ABS.  This, of course, does not count the drivers with various incarnations of hands-free phones.

Would you drive any better with that cell phone shoved up your ass?
